Magaliesberg Country Classic Festival - 24th September 2009 Entrance fee for adults is R100 (excluding the computicket booking fee). Children under 12 enter for free. Tickets are available from computicket and specialty tickets will be available for some limited events at the festival. These include the Home Brewers Beer area and the Wine Tasting which are R150 each. This price includes entry to the festival. The Magalies Meander was established 10 years ago to highlight the many attractions in the Magaliesberg. Situated in this area are the Sterkfontein Caves, The Cradle of Humankind , the Battlegrounds of Dwarsvlei, Olifantsnek and Buffelspoort, Silkaatsnek and Rietfontein - sites of great interest to historians. Accommodation on the Meander is no problem, with a choice of more than 50 hospitality venues. Golfers have a choice of five golf courses in the area and animal lovers a selection of reserves, sanctuaries, game lodges and parks. The Magalies Meander straddles the area from Brits in the north to Krugersdorp in the south, Hekpoort in the west and Pretoria in the east. It is famous for its magnificent mountains, unspoilt beauty, its abundance of bird and mammal species and its rich culture and history. The old-world village of Magaliesburg was elected as the centre of the Meander as it is so well served by three main arterial routes to Sun City and Botswana and only 45 minutes from Johannesburg and Pretoria. The festival takes place on the grounds of the Bekker schools. Directions are as follows:

The Magaliesberg Country Classic Festival is an initiative of the members of the Magaliesberg Meander and is aimed specifically at providing opportunities and skills development to as many members of the community as possible. To this end the teams running the festival employ and train members of the local community wherever possible. The main beneficiaries of the funds raised by the festival are local educational operations and schools.
