Activities at the Magaliesberg Country Classic Festival

For those who find any sort of prolonged sedentary periods tedious there are alternatives. Enjoy a gentle walk around the local school farmyard or take the kids on a pony ride. Alternatively, try a little archery or test your fly-fishing skills. Sundowner Adventures are a unique eco-friendly fly-fishing operation.

They are one of the only fly-fishing establishments in Gauteng that permits catch and release for trout. Their eco-friendly focus encourages barbless hooks when fishing and they only allow catch and release when fishing for yellowfish in the river.

They provide tuition for people wanting to learn how to fly-fish or those who want to improve on their skills. For the more experienced fly-fisher they have a guiding service to learn the art of small stream fly-fishing for yellowfish.

Visit Wayne Sinclair and Patrick Motsamai at the MBH Fly-Fishing pool at the festival. Visitors can come and watch the Fly-casting demonstrations as well as receiving some basic tuition on the basic techniques required for fly-fishing. The pool will be located near the open picnic fields. Children are welcome.

Bekker Bundu Bash
Mountain Bike Race
There are always more extreme ways to work up a thirst! The Bekker Bundu Bash mountain bike race takes place in the morning and all bike riders get free entrance to the festival and one free beer from the micro-brewers beer tent.

Magaliesburg Mega Trail '09
The Magalies Mega Trail Run takes place on the 19th September and is a great way for you to try out trail running. It is at the van Gaalen Cheese Farm so families should bring blankets and umbrellas and enjoy a sedate day next to the river while watching the runners complete their runs. A fully stocked bar will be available along with food from the Van Gaalen restaurant.
